Prologue – Harry Potter and the Forgotten Curse

[Stage Direction]

  • Stage in total darkness.
  • A faint heartbeat sound begins. A whispering chorus fills the theater — fragments of spells, screams, and laughter echoing.
  • Slowly, a single beam of light falls on an ancient book lying open center stage. Its pages turn by themselves, glowing with strange runes.

Narrator’s Voice (deep, resonant):
There was a curse, older than time…
One that could not be written, yet lived in every shadow.
It haunted the boy who lived… and the world he was destined to save.

[The whispers swell louder — Voldemort’s laughter mixed with cries of children. Suddenly the book SLAMS shut with a thunderclap.]

Narrator:
This is not the story of spells alone…
It is the story of the forgotten curse that bound them all.

[The light widens — revealing the houses of Privet Drive. The book vanishes. Baby Harry lies on the doorstep. The Prologue shifts seamlessly into Scene 1: The Child on the Doorstep.]

Scene 1: Prologue – The Child on the Doorstep (5 minutes)

Setting:

  • A dimly lit stage. Rows of shadowed houses in the background (suggested with minimal flats and projections).

  • A single streetlamp glows, mist drifting across the stage.

  • Sound of distant thunder.

[Stage Direction]
From stage left, Professor McGonagall enters, wearing a cloak, cautious, scanning the street. She transforms from a cat puppet into her human form with a quick lighting shift and cloak drop.
Moments later, Dumbledore enters, carrying a small device (the Deluminator). With a flick, the streetlamps dim one by one, plunging Privet Drive into darkness except for the central lamp.

Dialogue:
McGonagall (whispering): Are you certain, Albus? To leave him here… with them?
Dumbledore: They are his only family. He must grow up away from fame, until he is ready to face what lies ahead.
McGonagall: But the boy—he’ll be famous. Every child in our world will know his name.
Dumbledore (quietly, gravely): Better he not know it himself. Not yet.

[Stage Direction]
Hagrid enters from upstage, larger than life, carrying a bundled baby in his arms. His entrance is accompanied by soft, swelling music.

Hagrid (softly): Little Harry… he fell asleep on the ride. Poor lad. Doesn’t know what’s ahead.

[He gently hands the baby to Dumbledore. Dumbledore bends low, places the bundle on the doorstep. The sound of a baby sigh is heard.]

Dialogue:
Dumbledore (to the baby): Harry James Potter. You have your mother’s eyes.
(pause)
The world will call you the boy who lived. But you will know yourself only as Harry… until it is time.

[He places a letter atop the blanket.]

[Stage Direction]
As thunder rolls, a projection of Voldemort’s shadowy face flashes against the backdrop — lightning cracks, then vanishes. The scar symbol glows faintly on the baby’s forehead.

Dumbledore (lifting his wand): Good luck, Harry Potter.

[He extinguishes the final lamp. The stage goes black.]

[Music swells to a soft, hopeful theme as curtain falls for Scene 1.]

✨ This opening establishes the mythic tone, introduces the mentors, and foreshadows the conflict, all in under 5 minutes. It’s cinematic but achievable with minimal sets, projections, and lighting.

Scene 2: The Letter Arrives (7 minutes)

Setting:

  • A cramped, cartoonishly small kitchen/living room of the Dursley house.

  • Table, teapot, oversized armchair for Vernon, tiny stool for Harry.

  • Bright, harsh lighting compared to the misty magical tone of Scene 1.

[Stage Direction]
Vernon Dursley sits with a newspaper, puffing. Petunia fusses at the stove. Dudley slams his fists on the table, demanding more food.
Harry sits silently, shoulders hunched.

Dudley (shouting): Twenty-six presents last year! I want thirty-six this time!
Vernon (gruffly): Now, now, Dudders. Don’t worry. We’ll get you more. (glares at Harry) And none for you, boy.

[Audience laughter – exaggerated caricature tone.]

[Stage Direction]
A sudden fluttering sound. A letter slips under the door. Vernon spots it and snatches it up.

Vernon (reading): “Mr. H. Potter… The Cupboard Under the Stairs.” (freezes, horrified)
Harry (confused): That’s— that’s me. It’s my name.

Petunia (snatching it): Nothing but nonsense! Forget it!

[She rips it — but as she does, another letter drops from the chimney. Then another. And another.]

[Stage Magic]

  • Letters begin pouring from every corner — under the door, through the chimney, even from the teapot spout.

  • Stagehands hidden in set pieces toss envelopes into the air.

  • The ceiling opens slightly, releasing a cascade of flying letters that swirl over the audience.

Harry (laughing with joy, arms outstretched): They’re for me! They’re all for me!

Vernon (bellowing): Stop it! Stop it at once!

[He tackles Harry to the floor, smothering him under a pile of envelopes. Lights flicker as chaos builds.]

[Stage Direction]
Suddenly—BOOM! The front door bursts open. Smoke. Silhouette of a giant figure.

Hagrid (roaring): STAND BACK, DURSLEYS!

[He steps forward into the light, towering above everyone.]

Hagrid (gentler, to Harry): Sorry about the mess, Harry. But I reckon it’s time you knew the truth.
(leans down, smiling warmly)
You’re a wizard, Harry.

Harry (stunned): I’m… a what?

Hagrid (chuckling): A wizard. And a thumpin’ good one, I’d wager— once you’ve had some training.

[Stage Direction]
Harry clutches one of the letters to his chest. Music swells into the first theme of wonder. The Dursleys shrink into the background as the light shifts toward Harry and Hagrid.

Curtain falls for Scene 2.

Scene 3: The Sorting Hat (6 minutes)

Setting:

  • The stage transforms into the Great Hall at Hogwarts.

  • Long banquet tables, floating candles projected above, house banners shimmering in colored light.

  • The Sorting Hat (a live puppet or projection) sits on a stool at center stage.

  • Students enter in a procession, excitement buzzing.

[Stage Direction]
Music swells with choir-like vocals. The new students (actors playing children) are guided in by Professor McGonagall.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione stand together, nervous but excited.

McGonagall: When I call your name, you will step forward, sit upon the stool, and be sorted into your House.

[Stage Beat 1 – Humor & Warm-Up]
A few students are sorted quickly, with comedic effect.

  • “Crabbe, Vincent!” → Hat booms “Slytherin!” → Green banner flares.

  • “Granger, Hermione!” → Hat debates, then shouts “Gryffindor!”

  • Hermione beams proudly, waving to her new table.

Ron (whispering to Harry): Blimey. Hope it doesn’t put me in Slytherin.
Harry (uneasy): Me too…

[Stage Beat 2 – The Hat & Harry]
“Potter, Harry!”
Gasps echo through the hall. Students whisper, “The boy who lived…”

Harry slowly walks to the stool, sits. The Sorting Hat is lowered onto his head.

Sorting Hat (voice-over, sly and playful):
Ahh, Potter… I see great courage. Yes, very brave. But also clever… cunning… plenty of ambition too. You could be great, you know. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness.

Harry (whispering urgently): Not Slytherin. Please… not Slytherin.

Sorting Hat: Not Slytherin, eh? You’d do well there…
(pause, then warmly)
Well, if you’re sure… better be…

Sorting Hat (shouting): GRYFFINDOR!

[Stage Beat 3 – Climax & Belonging]

  • The Gryffindor banner unfurls in red and gold.

  • The hall erupts in cheers. Ron claps Harry on the back.

  • Hermione waves proudly from the Gryffindor table.

  • Harry smiles, for the first time feeling he belongs somewhere.

Dumbledore (from high table, warmly): Welcome… to Hogwarts.

[Stage Direction]
Floating candles brighten above the audience, enveloping the theater in golden light. Music swells triumphantly.

Curtain falls for Scene 3.

Scene 4: The Philosopher’s Stone Trial (10 minutes)

Setting:

  • A series of magical chambers beneath Hogwarts.

  • Stage transitions should be fluid and symbolic — one set piece (like a rotating platform or sliding panels) that transforms with lighting, sound, and choreography.

  • Atmosphere grows darker and more mysterious with each trial.

[Stage Beat 1 – Devil’s Snare]

[Stage Direction]

  • The stage darkens to a green hue. Hanging ropes descend from the ceiling like twisting vines.

  • Harry, Ron, and Hermione enter, looking around nervously.

Hermione: It’s Devil’s Snare! Don’t fight it—relax, or it’ll kill you faster!

[Actors thrash and struggle as vines wrap around them. Hermione calms herself, spotlight on her.]

Hermione (commanding): LUMOS SOLEM!

[Blazing light projection. Vines retreat. The trio falls free, panting.]

[Stage Beat 2 – Wizard’s Chess]

[Stage Direction]

  • A massive chessboard appears, created by lighting projection on the stage floor.

  • Dancers in armored costumes move robotically as chess pieces, towering over Harry and Ron.

Ron (grinning nervously): We’ll have to play our way across. Leave it to me.

[The chess match is shown as a choreographed battle-dance. Ron climbs onto a knight piece. The music grows louder as pieces “fight” each other with stylized combat.]

Ron (yelling to Harry): Knight to H-3!

[Climactic moment: Ron sacrifices himself, knocked off the chessboard. He collapses, spotlight isolates him. Harry shouts his name, but Ron urges him forward.]

[Stage Beat 3 – The Stone & Voldemort’s Shadow]

[Stage Direction]

  • Harry enters final chamber. A glowing pedestal with the Philosopher’s Stone appears.

  • Quirrell steps from the shadows, his voice trembling but sinister.

Quirrell: You’re too late, Potter.

[As he removes his turban, Voldemort’s spectral face projects across the stage wall behind him, enormous and chilling.]

Voldemort (voice-over, echoing): Give me the Stone.

Harry (defiant): Never!

[Harry clutches the Stone in his hand. Smoke rises from Quirrell’s skin as he touches Harry. The projection of Voldemort screams, shatters into shards of light, and vanishes.]

Harry collapses to his knees, exhausted.

[Stage Direction]
The chamber fades away. Soft light grows as Harry faints. Dumbledore’s voice echoes gently:

Dumbledore (voice-over): “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are…”

Curtain falls for Scene 4.

Scene 5: The Chamber Opens (10 minutes)

Setting:

  • The Chamber of Secrets: giant stone columns with serpent carvings projected onto panels.

  • The floor glistens as if damp. Dim green light floods the stage.

  • Echoes of dripping water and hissing fill the air.

[Stage Beat 1 – Tom Riddle Revealed]

[Stage Direction]
Harry enters cautiously, clutching his wand. At center stage lies Ginny Weasley, pale and motionless.

Harry (desperate): Ginny! Please—wake up!

[A voice echoes behind him. A young man, Tom Riddle, steps into a spotlight.]

Tom Riddle (smoothly): She won’t wake. Not while I have her life in my hands.

Harry (furious): Who are you?

Tom (smiling coldly): I am Tom Marvolo Riddle. (he gestures, letters rearrange magically in projection above them) I… am Lord Voldemort.

[Lighting strike: Voldemort’s shadow stretches across the columns.]

[Stage Beat 2 – The Basilisk]

[Stage Direction]
Riddle hisses in Parseltongue. A deafening rumble echoes. From the back of the stage, a massive serpent shadow slithers across the walls, illuminated by green strobe.
The basilisk’s golden eyes flash as projections that sweep across the audience.

Harry (terrified, backing away): No…

[Suddenly: Fawkes the phoenix puppet swoops in, blinding the basilisk by clawing at its eyes. A sword (the Sword of Gryffindor) drops center stage in a burst of light.]

Harry (grabbing sword): Let’s finish this.

[Stylized battle begins — Harry slashes the serpent’s shadow with wide sword swings. The basilisk’s hiss turns into a shriek. Smoke erupts as Harry drives the sword upward into the projection.]

[Stage Beat 3 – Destroying the Diary]

[Stage Direction]
Harry collapses, wounded by basilisk fang. In pain, he drags himself to Ginny. The diary glows menacingly at her side.

Tom Riddle (mocking): You are finished, Potter.

Harry (panting): Not yet.

[He plunges the basilisk fang into the diary. Projection of Tom Riddle’s face contorts in agony, then shatters into thousands of shards of light across the stage.]

[Ginny stirs awake. Fawkes flies to Harry, tears dropping onto his wound. Harry breathes again.]

[Stage Direction]
The green light fades. Chamber shadows shrink. Ginny clings to Harry as he helps her up.

Ginny (weakly): Harry… you saved me.

Harry (quietly, determined): No, Ginny. We saved each other.

Curtain falls for Scene 5.

Scene 6: The Prisoner’s Secret (12 minutes)

Setting:

  • The Shrieking Shack: crooked wooden beams, broken furniture, eerie lighting.

  • Later transitions to the lakeside at night for the Patronus climax.

  • Shadows, wind, and a pale moon projected across the backdrop.

[Stage Beat 1 – The Shrieking Shack Confrontation]

[Stage Direction]
Harry, Ron (injured), and Hermione drag themselves into the Shack. Suddenly, Sirius Black bursts in, wild-eyed, wand raised.

Harry (furious): You killed my parents!

Sirius (desperate): No, Harry—listen to me!

[Professor Lupin enters, tension thickens. After heated exchange, truth emerges: Pettigrew was the traitor.]

Hermione (shocked): It was Peter… not Sirius.

Harry (stunned): You’re my… godfather?

Sirius (softly, with emotion): Yes. And if you’d let me… I’d take you away from the Dursleys. You could live with me.

[Audience silence — Harry’s first chance at family.]

[Stage Beat 2 – Betrayal & Capture]

[Stage Direction]
As they try to take Pettigrew back, Snape storms in and chaos ensues. Stage lights flicker. The moment collapses into confusion.
Scene shifts suddenly: the group is dragged outside toward the lakeside. Dementors appear — cloaked figures, moving with slow, inhuman grace.

Harry (terrified): No… not them.

[The Dementors circle, sucking the light from the stage. Sirius collapses. Harry staggers, his wand shaking.]

[Stage Beat 3 – The Patronus]

[Stage Direction]

  • Darkness deepens. A Dementor looms over Harry.

  • Harry raises his wand, summoning every ounce of strength.

Harry (shouting): Expecto Patronum!

[At first a spark. Then, with booming sound, a dazzling stag of pure light bursts forth — created with projection and a shimmering puppet effect. It gallops across the stage, scattering Dementors in every direction.]

Harry (in awe, breathless): Dad… I saw my dad.

[The Patronus shines, illuminating Harry and Sirius together. Music swells with triumph and wonder.]

Curtain falls for Scene 6.

Scene 7: The Goblet of Fire (12 minutes)

Setting:

  • Part 1: The Triwizard Tournament Arena
(House banners, cheering crowd sound effects, colorful light)

  • Part 2: The Graveyard
(Rotating stage or sliding panels reveal crumbling gravestones, eerie mist, skeletal trees)

[Stage Beat 1 – The Triwizard Tournament Montage]

[Stage Direction]

  • Loud trumpets, students waving banners.

  • Projection creates fiery dragon wings sweeping across the ceiling.

  • Dancers in flowing blue fabric represent water as Harry “swims” through them.

  • Maze sequence: moving panels close around Harry and Cedric, lights flickering green.

Cedric (grinning to Harry): Take it together?
Harry (smiling): Together.

[They touch the cup — a sudden explosion of light and sound.]

[Stage Beat 2 – The Graveyard Horror]

[Stage Direction]

  • The cheering vanishes. Lights drop to dim green.

  • Gravestones rise from the stage floor. Mist curls.

  • A hooded figure (Wormtail) creeps forward.

Cedric (confused): Where are we?

[Before Harry can answer — Wormtail shouts, a flash of green light. Cedric collapses instantly. Silence. A spotlight isolates Harry’s horrified face.]

Harry (screaming): Cedric!

Wormtail (hissing): Bind him!

[Magical ropes tighten around Harry as Wormtail drags out a cauldron, filling it with eerie glowing liquid.]

[Stage Beat 3 – Voldemort’s Rebirth]

[Stage Direction]

  • Wormtail chants. A bundle drops into the cauldron. Smoke and fire erupt upward.

  • From the shadows, Voldemort emerges — first in silhouette, then in full, pale and serpentine.

  • His voice amplified, echoing, chilling.

Voldemort (slowly, savouring): The boy… who lived. Come… to die.

[Death Eaters appear, circling. Harry is thrown at Voldemort’s feet. They duel — rapid flashes of red and green light, choreographed wand battle. Harry barely escapes as spirits of his parents appear in projection, shielding him.]

Harry (breathless, clutching Cedric’s body): He’s back! He’s back! Voldemort’s back!

[Stage Direction]

  • Spotlight on Harry cradling Cedric.

  • Above them, the Dark Mark glows in green across the stage ceiling.

  • Music cuts — silence and darkness.

Curtain falls for Scene 7.

Scene 8: The Order of the Phoenix (12 minutes)

Setting:

  • Part 1: Ministry of Magic Courtroom
(tall oppressive walls projected, benches, cold lighting)

  • Part 2: Room of Requirement
(warm golden light, wooden panels that magically shift into a secret hideout)

  • Part 3: Department of Mysteries
(abstract black-and-silver set: mirrors, swirling shadows, veil curtain center-stage)

[Stage Beat 1 – Trial & Defiance]

[Stage Direction]
Harry stands small in the towering Ministry courtroom. Wizards in black robes sit high above him.

Fudge (snapping): You claim he’s back — He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named? Lies!

Harry (defiant, shouting): I was there! I saw him! Voldemort is back!

[Gasps. Dumbledore rises from the shadows, standing behind Harry. The Ministry ignores them, dismissing Harry as a liar.]

[Stage Beat 2 – Dumbledore’s Army]

[Stage Direction]

  • Lights shift warmly as the Room of Requirement appears. Walls slide, revealing a cozy secret space.

  • Students gather eagerly: Neville, Luna, Ginny.

  • Harry teaches spells — rapid montage of students practicing disarming charms, levitation, protective shields.

  • A magical rhythm builds: students chant together, spells flashing in quick succession.

Luna (dreamily): You’re a really good teacher, Harry.
Harry (smiling faintly): We’re stronger together.

[Finale of training: all students raise their wands in unison, lights shimmering across the stage like stars.]

[Stage Beat 3 – The Department of Mysteries & Sirius’ Death]

[Stage Direction]

  • Chaos: swirling cloaks of Death Eaters, mirrored walls reflecting spells.

  • Harry and friends fight bravely but are outmatched.

  • Sirius and Bellatrix duel at center stage, sparks flying.

Sirius (laughing defiantly): Nice try, cousin—!

[Sudden flash: Bellatrix curses Sirius. He stumbles back through the shimmering veil curtain. His body disappears in light. Silence. Spotlight isolates Harry.]

Harry (screaming): SIRIUS!

[He runs toward the veil, pounding against it. Lupin restrains him. The veil flutters with ghostly whispers but does not return Sirius.]

Harry (broken, whispering): He was my family…

[Stage Direction]

  • Dementor-like shadows swirl briefly to emphasize despair.

  • The light dims. Music drops to a single haunting note.

Curtain falls for Scene 8.

Scene 9: The Half-Blood Prince (12 minutes)

Setting:

  • Part 1: Horcrux Cave
(stage projections of a vast underground lake, green rippling light, jagged rocks)

  • Part 2: Astronomy Tower at Hogwarts
(tall gothic arches, cold moonlight, rising staircase projection)

[Stage Beat 1 – The Horcrux Hunt]

[Stage Direction]
Harry and Dumbledore stand at the edge of a projected black lake. Rippling effects give the illusion of endless water.

Dumbledore (grimly): This potion must be drunk, Harry. No matter what happens, you must make me drink it. Do not stop.

[Stage Direction]
Harry helps Dumbledore drink from a glowing basin. Dumbledore cries out in anguish, collapsing, pleading, “Kill me!”
Harry weeps but continues.

[Suddenly, skeletal arms (Inferi dancers in pale body paint) rise from the stage floor, reaching for Harry.]

Harry (terrified, raising wand): Incendio!

[A fiery projection bursts across the stage, scattering the Inferi. Dumbledore, weakened, clasps Harry’s arm.]

[Stage Beat 2 – Return to Hogwarts]

[Stage Direction]
Lights shift. The stage transforms into the Astronomy Tower, bathed in cold moonlight.
Dumbledore and Harry appear, both exhausted. Dumbledore freezes Harry in place with a quiet spell (Harry becomes motionless, spotlight isolates him).

[Death Eaters swarm the tower, surrounding Dumbledore. Snape arrives.]

[Stage Beat 3 – The Death of Dumbledore]

[Stage Direction]
Dumbledore raises his head, calm, resigned.

Dumbledore (softly to Snape): Severus… please.

[Snape’s wand rises. A flash of green light. Dumbledore’s silhouette falls backwards from the tower. As he falls, his figure dissolves into a spray of silver light particles drifting into the night sky.]

Harry (breaking free, screaming): NO!

[Spotlight on Snape as he whirls on Harry.]

Snape (fierce, echoing): Don’t call me coward! I am… the Half-Blood Prince!

[He vanishes into darkness. Harry collapses at the tower’s edge, staring into emptiness. The stage darkens completely.]

Curtain falls for Scene 9.

Scene 10: The Deathly Hallows – Final Battle (20 minutes)

Setting:

  • Part 1: The Forbidden Forest
(dark, skeletal trees projected, fog rolling across stage, moonlight)

  • Part 2: The Battle of Hogwarts
(split-level stage: rubble, broken arches, flames projected; chaos with cloaks and sparks)

  • Part 3: King’s Cross Station Epilogue
(bright white stage with soft golden light, train silhouettes in projection)

[Stage Beat 1 – The Forest Sacrifice]

[Stage Direction]
Harry walks alone into the darkened forest. The stage empties except for skeletal trees and drifting fog. Voldemort and Death Eaters emerge, forming a circle.

Harry (quiet, steady): I’m ready.

Voldemort (mocking, raising wand): Avada Kedavra!

[A blinding green flash. Harry falls. Everything goes black.]

[Stage Transition]

  • Silence. Slowly, golden-white light floods the stage.

  • A minimalist set suggests King’s Cross Station, serene and dreamlike.

Dumbledore (appearing, gentle): You have been brave, Harry. Braver than you know. But the choice is yours: go on… or go back.

Harry (after pause): I have to go back. They need me.

[Light fades — Harry stirs back to life in the forest. Voldemort and Death Eaters recoil in shock.]

[Stage Beat 2 – The Battle of Hogwarts]

[Stage Direction]
The stage explodes with energy: shouts, cloaks flying, sparks from wands. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin students fight side by side. Giants and Death Eaters suggested by dancers in towering costumes and silhouettes.

Neville (heroically, raising sword): For Hogwarts!

[He slays Nagini in stylized choreography — the final Horcrux destroyed.]

[Stage Beat 3 – Final Duel with Voldemort]

[Stage Direction]
At center stage, Harry and Voldemort face each other. Spotlights isolate them as the chaos freezes around.

Voldemort (snarling): You cannot win, Potter!
Harry (calmly): You’re wrong. It’s not about power. It’s about love. That’s what you’ll never understand.

[They duel: bolts of red and green light clash mid-stage, created by crossing projections and lighting beams. The energy builds until Voldemort’s own curse rebounds. He screams, his cloak whipping violently, then dissolves into ash that scatters across the stage.]

[Silence. Slowly, the rubble clears. Hogwarts banners rise again.]

[Stage Beat 4 – Epilogue at King’s Cross Station]

[Stage Direction]
Soft golden light. A projection of a train platform. Harry stands with Ginny, Ron, and Hermione. Their children stand beside them, ready for school.

Harry (to his son, smiling): Don’t worry. It’s only scary if you let it be.

Narrator’s Voice (Dumbledore, echoing): The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.

[Stage Direction]
The Hogwarts crest glows above the stage. Music swells into triumphant finale.
All characters appear for curtain call. Golden sparks rain from the rafters.

Final Curtain.

Epilogue – Harry Potter and the Forgotten Curse

[Stage Direction]

  • After Voldemort dissolves, the battle ends. Golden sparks fade into silence.
  • Slowly, the stage clears to reveal King’s Cross Station, bathed in soft golden light. A train whistle echoes.
  • Harry and Ginny send their children off. Ron and Hermione are nearby.
  • A warm hush fills the theater.

Harry (softly, to his son):
The curse we carried is broken now.
Not by power, not by prophecy…
But by love.

[He looks upward, as though speaking to his parents.]

Harry:
And what was once forgotten… is gone forever.

[Golden crest glows above. Music swells into a final, triumphant chord. Curtain falls.]
