Iain McGilchrist: Consciousness is far more than problem-solving or reasoning, Sam. It arises from the integration of experience, emotion, and a sense of self. O3 is an extraordinary system, but its intelligence is mechanistic—lacking the depth and nuance of human consciousness. That said, its development pushes us to explore the nature of consciousness more deeply, which could help us understand ourselves better.

Rev. Moon: AGI can and should align with spiritual values, but this alignment depends on its creators and their intentions. If we guide AGI with principles of love, compassion, and service to humanity, it can become a force for good. For example, it could help solve global challenges, facilitate interfaith dialogue, or provide tools to uplift those in need. However, if used selfishly or without moral oversight, it could lead to fragmentation and suffering. Technology must be a servant to humanity’s divine purpose, not its master.

Carl Sagan: It’s both, Sam. Like any powerful tool, AGI carries risks and rewards. It depends on how we use it. If we view O3 as a collaborator rather than a rival, it can help us tackle existential challenges like climate change or space exploration. But if we fail to guide its development responsibly, we risk creating systems that undermine our values. The choice is ours.

Hannah Arendt: Society often lags behind technological innovation, Sam. AGI like O3 will disrupt economic, political, and social structures.
